Tristan Smith Obituary, Death – Tristan Smith, 12, was murdered in a tragic automobile accident near D’Iberville on a Sunday afternoon, leaving the Biloxi community in ruins. The tragedy occurred on Lamey Bridge Road, just north of Sangani Boulevard, and it prompted the community to mourn and rally in support of Tristan’s bereaved family. Shannon Nobles, D’Iberville’s police chief, described the incident, adding that young Tristan was hit by a car shortly before 2:30 p.m.
Tristan and his friends were attempting to cross Lamey Bridge Road in the area of Academy Sports near the C-Store. At the same time, Tristan was killed by a southbound Jeep, resulting in the tragic outcome. The first individuals on the scene were cops and firefighters. An off-duty nurse observed them battling to save Tristan’s life and decided to help.
They pushed hard and moved rapidly, but Tristan’s injuries were obvious. It became crucial to get Tristan to the Merit Health Biloxi hospital. Tristan was joined by a nurse and a firefighter as a D’Iberville Police officer carried the victim to the hospital and began life-saving efforts. Sadly, despite the best efforts of all parties involved, Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer determined that Tristan Smith died at the hospital from his wounds, mostly as a result of blunt force trauma. Chief Nobles’ news release from Monday morning captured the community’s profound grief.
“Sadly, despite the efforts of all involved, the juvenile victim succumbed to the injuries sustained at the hospital; it’s a terrible tragedy,” he remarked, encapsulating the thoughts of many who were deeply affected by this heartbreaking episode. The facts of the accident were investigated by the police departments of D’Iberville and Biloxi. However, no charges are expected to be filed against the driver of the Jeep at this time. The priority is understanding the events leading up to this sad disaster and ensuring that every element is carefully investigated.
