Shawna Weems Homicide, Hemet CA, Suspect in Police Custody

Shawna Weems Homicide – On Tuesday, members of the Menifee Police Department apprehended a lady from Hemet who was, according to the police, in the process of stealing products from the Target store located in Menifee. According to the news report from the Menifee Police Department, the department received a call about a woman who was suspected of stealing from the establishment.

Tanya Vining, 47, was confronted by law enforcement as she was making her way to her vehicle while pushing a fully stocked shopping cart. She had left the store by presenting a receipt, which turned out to be from a different store from the one she had just been in. Deputy sheriffs were able to track down the suspect in the 27000 block of Rosemont Way in Hemet after running a query on the license plate number. In the 41000 block of Stonecliff Way, a Hemet Sheriff’s officer conducted a traffic check on a Hyundai Veloster.

The female driver of the Hyundai Veloster was detained, and after further investigation, she was positively identified as Cristian Natalie Valencia, who is 23 years old. The stolen stuff was found within the vehicle once it had been retrieved. The Southwest Jail received Valencia’s booking paperwork. Officers were able to recover more than $500 worth of stolen property and bring it back to the store.

According to the records kept at the Cois Byrd Detention Center, Vining was arrested and charged on a charge of misdemeanor petty theft after being brought there. She was arrested the previous day and posted bail the same day, and her next court case is set for July 12 at the Murrieta Southwest Justice Center.
