Robert L. Corbin Obituary, Death – Robert L. “Bob” Corbin, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, died on August 20, 2023, in his Marysville home, surrounded by his loving family. For nearly ten years, he fought a valiant struggle against Parkinson’s disease. He was 75 years old at the time. Bob Cooperider was born on May 22, 1948, in Urbana, Ohio, as the fourth of nine children of the late William Corbin and Dorothy (McCain) Cooperider. He graduated from Marysville High School in 1966.
Bob met Carolyn Sarver, his high school love, during his junior year of high school, and the rest is history. They knew they were meant to be together, so they eloped and married in Reedsville, North Carolina, on January 15, 1967. They were married for 56 years and reared two children, Kevin and Kathy, with love. Bob worked in the Honda Motorcycle Plant’s paint repair department from 1986 until his retirement in 2009. Prior to that, he worked for Delo Screw Products in Delaware for 18 years as a tool and die manufacturer.
Bob was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed golfing, hunting, and fishing throughout his life. He was a frequent at Marysville’s Blues Creek Golf Course, where “he was an average golfer and a professional ball hunter.” He would spend hours searching for golf balls and donating them to his family and their friends. Bob and Carolyn purchased their favorite 20 acres in the world in 1989, which became their homestead. He liked hunting there because he didn’t have to leave the back deck. He enjoyed fishing at home, often eagerly baiting the line with worms for his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing youth baseball and slow pitch softball when he was younger.
Bob had an ornery, cantankerous personality, with his own fun-loving remarks and salutes to demonstrate how much he cared for his family and friends. His grandchildren were very dear to him, and he loved taking them on adventures with him. Bob’s devotion to his family was evident.
