Riley Ann Netherland Obituary, Death – On September 18, 2023, Miss Riley Ann Netherland, age 9, from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, lost her fight against mitochondrial disease after a long and courageous battle. Her parents, Braden and Alisha Netherland, gave birth to her in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. At the time, Riley was attending John Pittard Elementary School and was in the fourth grade. Her family was active members of the New Vision Baptist Church, where she attended.
Riley had a soft spot for many kinds of birds and other animals, as well as the great outdoors and fishing. She got a kick out of playing practical jokes on other people. Holidays of all kinds were her favorite, from Halloween to Christmas. Riley possessed a charisma that shone like the sun. Throughout the course of her treatment, she maintained an upbeat attitude and did everything she could to lift the spirits of those around her.
Riley is survived by her parents, Braden and Alisha Netherland; her brother, Hutton Netherland; her grandmother, Lisa Wyatt; her aunts and uncles, Khameron Khamphilavong, Daniel Netherland and his wife Linda, India Smithson and her husband Ben, and Madison Netherland; as well as her great-aunts and great-uncles, Sally Wynn, Joe and Jan Netherland, and Rita Alford. Her great-grandparents, Khamleck Khamphilavong and Ed Netherland, and her grandfather, Khamleck Khamphilavong, passed away before she was born.
