Kevin West Obituary, Death – The city of Chattanooga has been dealt a blow by the passing of a friendly and approachable figure whose impact extended across a number of decades and a broad spectrum of professions. The passing of Kevin West was a shock to everyone, and it took place on a Monday morning when he was performing his duties as the director of public affairs for the Chattanooga Police Department.
It’s been only two months since Kevin made the decision to quit his job in radio. The individual who was born in Michigan moved to Chattanooga in 1987 and soon established himself as the longtime morning newsman at WGOW radio stations, including Talk 102.3. His hometown was in Michigan. In later years, he worked at those stations, eventually rising through the ranks to become the program director.
Kevin had a total of 24 years of service under his belt when he retired as a captain from the United States Navy two years ago. During his time in the military, he was awarded a variety of medals and decorations for his dedication and service. Kevin was over the moon about his promotion to the post of communications specialist in the police department, and he didn’t waste any time getting started on a wide range of creative communication projects.
He is survived by a loving family and a huge number of friends who looked up to him and appreciated his sense of optimism and integrity. He will be greatly missed by all of them. His friendship is something that each and every one of us here at Local 3 News will miss dearly after he leaves. The public has not been informed of the funeral preparations at this time. At this time, it is not possible to identify what caused the person to pass away.
