Joseph Miller Obituary, Death – On September 17, 2023, the Absecon community bid farewell to one of its beloved residents, Joseph Miller, who passed away at the age of 86. Joseph, fondly known as Joe, led a remarkable life filled with service, camaraderie, and simple pleasures. Born in the bustling borough of Bronx, New York, Joe spent his formative years there.
Later in life, he moved to Old Bridge, New Jersey, where he laid down the foundation for a future filled with adventures and lasting friendships. Eventually, Joe made his home in Absecon, where he spent 45 fulfilling years. Joe’s journey included a stint with the United States Postal Service (USPS) and a long tenure as a security guard at the PlayBoy Casino. His dedication and commitment to his work made him a respected member of the community.
However, Joe’s service extended beyond his professional life. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving with honor in 1957 and 1958. His time in the Navy was a testament to his love for his country and his willingness to protect and serve. In his leisure hours, Joe found joy in simple pleasures. He could often be found sitting on the porch of the Absecon Inn, waving to passers-by with a friendly smile. It was during these moments that he would also sketch whatever inspired him, leaving a piece of his creativity for others to enjoy.
One of Joe’s cherished traditions was his weekly Sunday morning visits to The Sunryser Restaurant & Deli. There, he shared breakfast and lively conversation with his best friend and loyal companion, Joe Boncheri. Their friendship was a testament to the enduring bonds that can be formed over shared meals and good company. Joseph Miller will be remembered not only for his service to his country and community but also for the warmth and friendship he offered to those lucky enough to know him. His presence in Absecon will be sorely missed, leaving behind a void that cannot be filled.
