Donna M. Egan Obituary, Native Of Newark Has Passed Away

Donna M. Egan Obituary, Death – Donna M. Egan, 67 years old, passed away unexpectedly at JFK Medical Center in South Plainfield on September 18, 2023. Donna Cusanelli was raised in South Plainfield, which is also where she brought up her own children after being born in Newark to the late Filomena and Dominic Cusanelli. Prior to living in South Plainfield, Donna lived in Old Bridge for a brief period of time. Rutgers University granted Donna a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism when she completed her studies there.

She began her career in education at the South Plainfield School District where she still works as a substitute teacher. After a few years, she made the decision to participate in the alternative route program in order to earn her degree in English language education. Following a career of 25 years of dedicated service at South Plainfield High School, Donna took her retirement in 2022. During the warm summer months, one of her favorite things to do was to swim at the South Plainfield Community Pool. Other hobbies of hers were reading and watching movies.

She also enjoyed going to the theater to watch musicals. Those who are left behind include her husband of 46 years, Thomas Egan; their three children, Christopher Egan and his wife Nicole Sutherland, Ryan Egan and his wife Janis Munz, and Kaitlin Spayder and her husband Christopher; and her three siblings, Dominic Cusanelli and his wife Diana, Maria Cusanelli and her husband Steven Thoman, and Michael Cusanelli and his wife Alice Shiao.

She is also survived by her parents, Dominic and Diana Cusanelli. In addition, she will be much missed by her four grandchildren, as well as by her nieces, nephews, extended relatives, and the many friends she leaves behind. On Friday, September 22, 2023, from 5-8 PM, family and friends are welcome to congregate at the South Plainfield Funeral Home, which is located at 2456 Plainfield Avenue in South Plainfield, New Jersey 07080. Donations to charitable organizations of one’s choice can be made in lieu of sending flowers to honor Donna’s memory.
