Thomas Anderson Barefoot Obituary, In Loving Memory Of A Cherished Soul

Thomas Anderson Barefoot Obituary, Death- Thomas Anderson Barefoot, 56, tragically passed away at his home on September 17, 2023. He was the son of the late Thomas Odell Barefoot and Janet Naylor Barefoot Harrell, and was born in Wake County on November 11, 1966. Tom also lost his stepfather, Ellis Earl Harrell, and stepson, McKinley McCurry, in addition to his father.

In addition to his mother, Tom is survived by his son, Andrew Thomas Barefoot; special friend and companion, Olga McLeod; sister, Joni Alford and husband, Forest; nieces and nephew, Jennifer Alford, Megan Collins and husband, Chris, and Josh Alford and wife, Jennifer; former wife and the mother of his son, Minda Barefoot; former wife, Tracie Barefoot; step-daughter, Kayla McCurry; ten great-nieces and great-nephews; and several special aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Tom attended Wake Christian School and earned his high school diploma from Garner Senior High. At North Carolina State University, he continued his schooling and received a bachelor’s degree. Tom spent many years working in the banking sector, first for Wachovia and then for BB&T, and now for Truist, where he had been a devoted worker for the last 25 years. Tom was an ardent sportsman from his school days until he was an adult. Football, baseball, basketball, and a solid round of golf were all sports he enjoyed playing. Tom enjoyed participating in a variety of sports just as much as he enjoyed rooting for his favorite groups, N.C. State and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Tom’s family was the most significant thing in his life. Each and every element of Tom’s life demonstrated the close relationship he had with his son Andrew. Among other things, Tom and Andrew loved sports and cherished their time together playing them. Tom was frequently observed encouraging Andrew from the sidelines. To cheer on their favorite baseball teams, they traveled great distances to numerous ballparks, arenas, and stadiums.

The Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner will host a visitation for the family on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Rev. Frank Purvis will preside over a memorial ceremony honoring Tom’s life that will take place at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Bryan-Lee Funeral Home. Montlawn Memorial Park in Raleigh will serve as the last resting place. Flowers can be given to the Bryan-Lee Funeral Home in Garner and are appreciated.
