Shirley Dell Obituary, Death – Shirley Dell, a life member of the Devonport Cricket Club, passed away in Devonport at the age of 87. The Devonport Cricket Club would like to extend its most sincere sympathies to the Dell family on the passing of Shirley Dell. We would like to take this opportunity to send our most heartfelt thoughts and sympathies to Shirley’s family and friends during this terribly trying time. Shirley passed away unexpectedly.
Throughout the 1980s, Shirley made significant contributions to the club, but perhaps none were more important than those she made when the Devonport Oval played host to both First Class and international cricket matches.
Because of her boundless enthusiasm and positive “can-do” attitude, the club made the executive decision to grant her life membership in honor of everything that she has accomplished. The contributions made by the Dell family are considered as having been important in the formation of the Devonport Cricket Club. Shirley Dell, along with her sons Chris and Steven, who both had notable success while playing for the club, was inducted as a life member of the organization. Chris and Steven Dell both had notable success while playing for the club. In addition, for the past two years, the club’s first grade team has been led by Tyler, Steven’s son, who has served as the captain of the team.
Shirley has been a valuable contributor to this team for almost 45 years, and we will miss her irreplaceable presence as well as her hilarious sense of humor greatly. Everyone at the club was looking forward to seeing Shirley and her late husband Ron on Saturdays because they were such committed club supporters. Ron had passed away. While Shirley was there, she always looked forward to having a drink of whiskey and catching up with her friends. In 2013, Ron sadly departed away. The club would like to extend its deepest sympathies to not only the Dell family but also to all of their other close friends and loved ones.
