Robert L. Hardin Obituary, Death – It has come to the attention of the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office that Sergeant Robert L. (Bob) Hardin, who had resigned from the agency and was 70 years old, passed away on September 15, 2023. 1974 was the beginning of Bob’s career in law enforcement, when he joined the Staunton Police Department. On March 16, 1983, Bob started working for the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office. On March 31, 2003.

Bob spent the majority of his career in the military working in patrol and worked his way up through the ranks. After some time, he was given the position of Sergeant over his patrol shift. Later on in his professional life, he made the transition to working in the School Resource Division. Bob’s superiors, subordinates, and the children he worked with at the schools all held a favorable opinion of him.

If you knew Bob, you were aware that he was balanced, but that he was also quite forthright and direct. Bob was well-known for his witty remarks as well as his hearty chuckle. In particular, Bob enjoyed being of service to others and was quite involved in the local community. Bob’s children and grandchildren, whom he adored, made him tremendously proud, and he took this to heart.

His wife of 48 years, Carol Wymer Hardin, his daughter Carrie Little, his son Michael Hardin, four grandsons, and several nieces and nephews are among those who are left behind after Bob’s passing. I would want to express my gratitude to you, Bob, for the twenty years of committed service you have provided to the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office as well as the residents of Augusta County. Bob, you can relax knowing that your fellow deputies here at the Augusta County Sheriff’s Office will continue to hold the line from this point on.
