Randy Jones Obituary, Death – On December 29, 2022, Randy Paul Jones passed away suddenly from a heart attack at his LaMarque residence. He was 67. Born on October 15, 1955, in East St. Louis, Missouri, Randy is a local. When he was just ten years old, he and his family moved to Galveston. Randy thought, “Man! I get to go fishing here every day.” when he and his family crossed the Causeway to Galveston Island and saw the bay for the first time.
And he did, in fact! In 1974, Randy graduated from Ball High School. He joined the Army soon after graduating and served four years in West Germany with a Pershing Missile outfit. After serving his entire term in the military, he went to the University of Houston and earned a degree in business management there. His business career has primarily been centered on healthcare services and information technology.
He worked for American National Insurance Company, Union Carbide, Clear Lake Regional Medical Center, and UTMB in Galveston throughout his professional career. In addition to his three daughters, Julie Scully, Sarah Quintero, and Melissa Benedict, and spouse Kent, Randy is also survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Jody Smith Jones.
His seven grandkids, Shelby Ibrahim and her husband Hasan, Robert Scully, Megan Rich, Ally Quintero, Avery Quintero, Camryn Benedict, and Aubrey Benedict are also left to mourn his passing. Randy is also survived by his sisters Sue Jannakos and Sally Diaz, their spouse Richard, as well as a sizable number of nieces and nephews. Gerald and Patsy Smith, as well as Leslie Smith, Randy’s sister-in-law, survive him. His parents, Sarah and Forest Fitzgibbons, predeceased him.
