Larry Wayne Wilburn Obituary, Death – On September 17, 2023, Larry Wayne Wilburn, 75, passed away in the Highland Ridge Rehab Center in Dublin, Virginia. He was the son of the late Floyd Jackson Wilburn and Mary Ellen Blankenship Wilburn, and was born on April 8, 1948, in Rich Creek, Virginia.Larry was a devoted member of American Legion Post 68 in Narrows, Virginia, and a proud U.S. Army Veteran. He held a variety of professions, including one at the Radford, Virginia, arsenal. Larry was a well-known goat farmer who adored his animals. Above all else, Larry was a committed and affectionate husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will be sadly missed.
He also lost his siblings Louise Trent, W.C. Wilburn, Clovis Wilburn, Robie Wilburn, Rosa Lee Cox, and Barbara Wilburn in addition to his parents. His devoted wife of 46 years, Sylvia Ball Wilburn, of the home; one daughter, Crystal Wilburn Evans of Christiansburg, Virginia; two grandchildren, Ceilia Evans and Isaac Evans; stepson, S. Troy Fisher and wife Carla of Christiansburg, Virginia; son-in-law, Mike Evans and wife Lori of Pearisburg, Virginia; one brother, Marshall Wilburn and wife Sharon; one sister, Carrie Ellen Shires; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, members of the extended family
Barry Harper will officiate during funeral services with military honours on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of the Broyles-Shrewsbury Funeral Home in Peterstown, West Virginia. Following, there will be a burial at the Peterstown Cemetery in Rich Creek, Virginia. The funeral home will be open for visitation on Thursday from 1:00 PM until the start of the services.
