Valerie Carberry Obituary, Death – Valerie A. Carberry, 62, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away on September 16, 2023, at Decatur Memorial Hospital. She was surrounded by her family and her closest friend at the time of her passing. At the request of the family, friends are cordially invited to attend a memorial visitation that will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, Illinois.

Lester and Bonnie (Frick) Greene welcomed their son Val into the world on July 28, 1961 in Wichita, Kansas. She received her high school diploma from Ben Davis, which is located in Indiana, in the year 1979. After that, she continued her education at Olivet Nazarene University.
She is survived by her devoted children, Rachel Strode (and her husband Steven) of Forsyth, Illinois, and Jason Berg (and his wife Kristine) of Decatur, Illinois; two grandchildren, Kayson James Strode and Raelyn Nicole Strode; her brother, Ron Greene (and his wife Amber) of Indiana; along with her two nieces, Lily and Bethany Greene; and her best friend of a lifetime, Christy Hill. She will be greatly missed.
During her employment at the Clinton Power Plant, Val had put in a total of 36 years of hard labor and dedication to the job. Val’s favorite things to do in her spare time were gardening, arts and crafts, and traveling. Val treasured her time with her family, especially the time she got to spend with her grandchildren, the most. We are going to miss her very much.
