Jessica Scott, a beloved member of our community, was fatally injured and transported to JRMC, where she tragically succumbed to her injuries. Jessica’s loss is deeply felt by all who knew her, and our thoughts are with her family during this unimaginably difficult time.
Deandre Thomas, a 25-year-old individual, also lost his life in this heartbreaking incident. Deandre was found unresponsive, with a gunshot wound to his head, clutching a black handgun. Despite the efforts of officers and medical personnel, he too passed away at JRMC. Our sympathies go out to his family as they cope with this sudden and devastating loss.
According to a witness who was present near Jessica Scott’s residence at 1402 Avondale Drive, she observed Deandre Thomas entering Jessica’s vehicle. The witness reported hearing gunshots and witnessing Deandre leaving the vehicle, seemingly with the intent to harm her. In a courageous attempt to protect herself, the witness retreated in her vehicle, at which point Deandre turned his gun towards her before ultimately taking his own life.
This tragedy has left our community in shock and mourning. We extend our deepest condolences to the families and friends of Jessica Scott and Deandre Thomas. In this difficult time, we encourage our community to come together in support of one another and the grieving families.
