Steven Lanphear Obituary, Death – Steven Henry Lanphear, aged 71, peacefully passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at L&M Hospital in New London, surrounded by his loved ones. He was the cherished husband of Betty Ann (Paterno) Lanphear and had been a resident of Paupock Run, Westerly.

Steven was born in Westerly and was the son of the late Henry and Edna Lanphear. He dedicated his life to serving his country, with a remarkable career spanning the US Air Force, the Army National Guard, and several years as an electrician at Electric Boat in Groton, where he worked until his well-deserved retirement. His legacy lives on through his family. Steven is survived by his loving wife, Betty Ann, as well as his four sons: Craig J. Lanphear of

Charlestown, and Kirk S. Lanphear, Mark C. Lanphear, and Matthew J. Lanphear, all proud residents of Westerly. He is also survived by his brother, Jeffrey Lanphear of New Hampshire, and three sisters: Susan Sharpe of Ledyard, CT; Cindy Kay of N. Franklin, CT; and Cathy McAlpine of Ocala, FL. He is predeceased by his sister, Sherry Akers. Additionally.

He leaves behind his stepmother, Luciana Lanphear of Westerly; a stepsister, Katherine Obey of Gales Ferry; and a stepbrother, James Clark of Hopkinton, RI. Steven’s memory is further cherished by his six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. To honor his life and service, a private funeral service and burial, complete with Full Military Honors, will be held at the convenience of the family. Steven Henry Lanphear will be fondly remembered and dearly missed by all those whose lives he touched throughout his remarkable journey.
