Shawn was born on October 1, 1973, to Theresa Braxton Alexander and Stewart Poindexter in Lynchburg, Virginia. He received his education in Lynchburg’s public schools and proudly graduated from E. C. Glass High School. Shawn had a deep passion for sports, particularly as an avid fan of the New Orleans Saints, his favorite team in the National Football League (NFL). He also enjoyed watching game shows on television and enthusiastically participated in the competitions from the comfort of his home.

Shawn was celebrated not only for his sports enthusiasm and love of game shows but also for his qualities as a cherished friend, devoted father, and loving brother. He was known for his boundless love and care for his family, his generosity to everyone, his warm smile, and his willingness to lend a helping hand. He will be remembered for his kind, compassionate, and generous heart.
Shawn is survived by his deeply devoted wife, Patricia, and their daughter, Dasia. He is also survived by his mother, Theresa Alexander, his father, Stewart Poindexter, his step-brother, Jamelle Poindexter, his uncles, Richard Horsley (Carolyn) and Charles Horsley, his sisters-in-law, Freda Payne and Catherine Payne Garrett, his great aunt, Ann Horsley, his godmother, Virginia Davis, his godfather, Henry Reid, and a multitude of other beloved relatives and friends who have enriched his life throughout the years.
