George Chapman Obituary, Death – It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of George Chapman’s passing on September 15, 2023. George was a beloved husband to Carolyn and a cherished member of our community. In honor of his memory, a Memorial Service is tentatively scheduled for September 25, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in Matthews, NC. We are currently working on finalizing the exact location, which will be communicated in due course.
Following the Memorial Service, George will be laid to rest on Tuesday, September 26, at 11:00 a.m. at the National Cemetery in Salisbury, located at 501 Statesville Boulevard. It is a place of honor and reflection for a man who dedicated himself to his country. We are deeply grateful to the NCVHPA (North Carolina Vietnam Helicopter Pilots Association), who will serve as Honorary Pallbearers at both the Memorial Service and the National Cemetery.
George’s connection with aircraft 605, which he flew during his service with the 176th in Vietnam, holds a special place in our hearts. It is only fitting that this aircraft will accompany him on his final journey. As we come together to remember and celebrate George’s life, we invite all who knew him to join us in bidding farewell to a remarkable man who left an indelible mark on our lives.
