Dustin Cackley Obituary, Death – Dustin Michael Cackley, 51, passed away on September 8, 2023, at Southeast Iowa Medical Center due to a heart attack. Born on July 24, 1972, in Keokuk, IA, he served in the U.S. Army for two decades, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant and earning numerous awards. Following his military service, Dustin battled divorce and PTSD, finding solace in his faith and a desire to help veterans facing similar struggles.
In 2017, he co-founded the non-profit Armatus Reintegration Program, aiding incarcerated veterans in Texas prisons. Upon his return to Keokuk in 2019, Dustin became actively involved in his community, serving as the commander of Keokuk American Legion Post 41 and participating in various veteran-focused initiatives.
Dustin is survived by his four children, Lorene, Garret, Justine, and Dillon, his brother Damon, mother Dorothy, fiancé Linda Oliveski, and extended family. Visitation will be held on September 21 at Vigen Memorial Home in Keokuk, with a funeral service on September 22 at the same location, followed by burial with military honors at Keokuk National Cemetery.
